Profile & Arrangement
This new 75' aluminum waterjet pilot boat for Valdez, Alaska is based on the proven Texas class boats working in Galveston. Central to the concept is size. At 75 feet, they are big enough to cope with all sea states. Propulsion is via big engines, 38 liters, and big waterjets. The engines are rated for continuous operation so service speed is top speed - 28 knots. With Alaskan weather entirely different than the Gulf of Mexico, the new boat has multiple heating systems to keep the interior comfortable, the windows defrosted and decks and handrails ice free.
Hull plating was increased for ice protection. Special skinned soft foam fendering was specified.
Oversized deck lights are used to light boarding operations during the long northern winter nights.
Two private staterooms are below for pilots. The pilot house has a galley aft, high grade seating for 4 pilots and 2 crew.
