The Charleston pilots have been ordering Hunt-designed pilot boats for more than 20 years and decided to add two fast 75-footers to their fleet of two 55-footers and a 38. The increased size and higher performance of the new vessels reflect the demand for more frequent trips further offshore, as well as station-holding capabilty. The Hunt Deep-V hull, refined over 40 years, delivers a smooth, dry ride at speed. One of the most difficult requirements in pilot service is good handling and control alongside large vessels underway; Hunt-designed pilot boats excel in this demanding situation.
